This course is a great opportunity to learn the basics of 2 different techniques, Glass fusing and Copper Foiling. The course will run between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday evenings throughout February (4th through to the 26th) and throughout May (6th to the 27th)
Introduction to copper foiling - you will learn the basics of applying copper foil to the stained glass pieces and soldering them together to make 2 pre-cut sun catchers, and these will be availble for you to take home at the end of the class
We will progress onto cutting the glass to a pattern and make a 3 dimensional tea light and this will also be available to take away at the end of the class.
We will start learning about glass fusing and how the glass can be melted at different temperatures to create a single piece made from a number of pieces and types of glass. We will also look at glass compatibility and the different moulds and types of glass, such as sheet glass, frit, stringers, noodles scrap and dichroic. We will make some small samples using these different glasses and a coaster.
Having looked at the samples made the previous week you will be able to make a piece that incorporates the effects created. These can potentially be combined within you final project. This can be a bowl, freestanding S-curve or panel etc.
